Movie Review: "Frozen" Is Pure Disney Excellence.

Frozen

Directors: Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee
Cast: Kristen Bell, Idina Menzel, Jonathan Groff, Josh Gad, Santino Fontana, and Alan Tudyk.
Rated PG for some action and mild rude humor.

Disney Animation continues its hot streak with its latest release, Frozen. Following the success of Wreck-It Ralph and Tangled, Frozen contains the same charm, but also includes that special Disney magic that was commonplace among the Disney Renaissance films like The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, and The Lion King. This achievement is largely due to the absolutely incredible music and songs by Tony Award winner Robert Lopez and his wife, Kristen Anderson-Lopez.

The story is loosely based on the Hans Christian Anderson tale, The Snow Queen. Elsa has always loved her little sister, Anna, but when her magical ice powers nearly kill Anna, Elsa must live in confinement and hide her powers from not only her sister, but the whole kingdom of Arendelle. Anna, now grown and not understanding why her sister has shut her out, desperately tries to reconnect with her sister who was once her best friend. Shortly after Elsa's coronation as Queen of Arendelle, her powers become known to the kingdom as she inadvertently covers the kingdom in an eternal winter. Now, Anna must seek out Elsa, who has sought refuge on the mountain, and convince her to remove her spell over Arendelle before all is lost.

Frozen is an absolute joy to watch, especially for any Disney fan like myself. You will be amazed by the beautiful animation, and the spectacular music will have you singing for days after you see it. Songs like "Do You Want to Build a Snowman?", "For the First Time In Forever", and "Let It Go" will have you smiling and crying, while songs like "Fixer Upper" and "In Summer" will leave you laughing out loud. The film has everything you've come to expect from a Disney musical and will entertain both children and adults. Elsa and Anna will make great additions to the Disney princess family. Now, it's time to go listen to "Let It Go" by Idina Menzel for the hundredth time. Excuse me.

RATING: A+
