The 1st Annual Todd Awards (2012)

The 1st Annual Todd Awards

-Nominations-

I have decided to further indulge my obsession with movies by creating my own little movie awards. Every year, the Oscars let me down in some of the big categories. Last year was a huge disappointment all around, not only with the winners ("The Artist"), but with many of the nominees as well. Most of the time the Academy Awards tend to recognize the more artistic films of the year rather than blockbusters. I do agree that most of the better films are not the summer blockbusters we flock to see, but unlike the Academy, I feel that not all blockbusters should be overlooked.
Also, I tend to feel that naming one film better than all the rest can be very presumptuous and unfair. I prefer the format of the Golden Globes where there are two Best Picture categories, Drama and Musical or Comedy. So, I have decided pattern The Todd Awards after the Golden Globes. There may be up to five nominees in each category. Firstly, I will nominate those films I believe deserve recognition, and later in the month I will list the winners. It should be noted that though I may already have an idea of who my winners could be, I have not already decided who they are. You may find similar nominations here as you will with other major award shows, but it should also be noted that no matter who the nominees/winners are, these awards are solely predicated upon my own personal tastes and are not meant to please all who read them. Movies are, and always should be, subjective. And now here are the nominees for The 1st Annual Todd Awards:
